Visas
A visa is required for entry into the People's Republic of China. Please contact your nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate for visa application information and processing. An official letter of invitation from the Chinese Medical Association will be sent to you upon receipt of your request to facilitate your visa application. Visa should be applied for at least 1 month before departure.

Money Exchange
The Yuan (RMB) is the official currency in China. After arriving you are recommended to exchange a small amount of money for taxi fare etc. The exchange rate is about $1 USD = RMB 6.8 (May 2008). Most major credit cards – Visa, Master Card and American Express – are accepted at most hotels, large restaurants and shopping centers.

Electricity
The electric voltage in China is 220V/50Hz and the standard wall socket has three-connectors (L, N and E).

Tipping
Tipping is not expected by service attendants in China, except for tour guides, hotel porters and housemaids.
