International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP)
IACAPAP is a non-governmental organization the purpose of which is to promote the study, treatment, care and prevention of mental and emotional disorders and disabilities of children, adolescents and their families. The emphasis is on practice and research through collaboration between child psychiatrists and the allied professions of psychology, social work, pediatrics, public health, nursing, education, social sciences and other relevant fields. To achieve this objective, IACAPAP has adopted/developed the guidelines and principles of Ethics in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
The goals for the coming years are to further strengthen the bonds between the different regions of the world in order to promote science, training and clinical practice in our disciplines, as well as to further strengthen bonds between child and adolescent psychiatrists and allied professionals. Important means to achieve those goals is to promote the global program on child mental health that was started in cooperation with WPA and the WHO, and to further establish evidence based methods for treatment of CAP disorders.
IACAPAP adopts Declarations, Statements and Position Papers of help to mental health professionals in their work. The more recent Declarations are the Melbourne Declaration 2006 ”Nurturing Diversity”, the IACAPAP Ethics 2006 and the Position Paper on a Rights-Based and Evidence-Based Approach to the Care of Persons with ASD adopted in Oslo Sept 2, 2007, together with Autism Europe and ESCAP . In addition, since 1971, IACAPAP publish Monographs on topics of importance to the field.
Asian Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (ASCAPAP)
The ASCAPAP was set up in 1995. Its objectives are to promote the scientific study concerning the mental health and development of children and adolescents, promote academic exchange and mutual understanding between the specialists in child and adolescent psychiatry and allied professions and promote professional standards in mental health care in Asia. In pursuance of these objectives, the Society organizes regular scientific meetings, publishes and disseminates information, advocates for better mental health care for children and adolescents and promotes interdisciplinary cooperation in Asia. It plays an important role in the promoting development of child and adolescent psychiatry and mental health of child and adolescent in Asia.
Chinese Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CSCAP)
The CSCAP, established in 1989 is a subsidiary of the Chinese Society of Psychiatry which is the national peak body representing psychiatrist in China. The purpose of the CSCAP is to improve the mental health of children and adolescents in China by means of advocacy, education and research.
